Shorter University, a NCAA Division II institution that competes in the Conference Carolinas ,is currently accepting applicants for the position of Head Baseball Coach. This position will be responsible for sport specific coaching, Student-Athlete development, evaluating and recruiting prospective student-athletes, budget management, and overall administrative duties. This position will report to the Athletic Director. All activities shall be conducted within the policies and resource framework of the University, the Athletics Department, Conference Carolinas, and the NCAA.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage all aspects of the baseball program, including fall and spring seasonsPlan and conduct practices, game preparation, and in-game strategyRecruit and retain prospective student-athletesMonitor and support the academic progress of student-athletesSupervise assistant coaches and graduate assistantsDevelop and implement strength and conditioning programsManage program budget and ensure fiscal responsibilityEnsure compliance with institutional, Conference Carolinas, and NCAA rules and regulationsCoordinate team travel, meals, and logisticsEstablish and oversee study hall programs for student-athletesEnforce team discipline and maintain high behavioral standardsLead fundraising initiatives for the baseball programBuild positive relationships across the athletics department and universityEngage in community outreach and service activitiesServe as a positive role model for student-athletes and represent the university with integrityQualifications

Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred)Previous experience as a collegiate or professional (MLB) player preferredCoaching experience at the NCAA Division I, II, or III level (assistant or head coach); NAIA or Junior College programStrong leadership, communication, and organizational skillsCommitment to the development of student-athletes on and off the fieldUnderstanding of NCAA and Conference Carolinas compliance and regulationsAbility to positively represent the university’s mission and valuesSupervisory Responsibilities
