Job Overview

The job of a coach is to design and implement the program's activities following applicable rules and regulations related to the sport; oversee assistant coaches, student managers, and /or volunteers; provide supervision of student athletes during all aspects of the program; using sound instructional techniques in overseeing program activities; serving as a positive role model to student athletes. Responsibilities:

• Realize and appreciate the need for the basketball program to work with other sports as a complement to the entire athletic department.
• Support and uphold the Bishop LeBlond mission.
• Provide instruction and coach students to develop skills and the ability to excel in basketball.
• Contribute to the educational program as a whole and to the growth of students involved in athletics so that they are successfully competitive.
• Use a variety of instructional techniques to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student-athletes in basketball.
• Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
• Work with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student-athletes.
• Ensures that all basketball coaches work together toward a common goal.

Requirements:

• Missouri State Teaching Certificate (preferred, but not required).
• Sports First Aid Training.
• CPR Training.
• Practicing Catholic in good standing is preferred, but not required.
