The Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine is responsible for the oversight of the Sports Medicine Department’s Comprehensive Medical Coverage program. Job Duties:

• Responsible for operating the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics Sports Medicine Department.
• Responsibile for the treatment of ill and/or injured student-athletes.
• Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with team physicians, scheduling appointments, following medical guidelines and following up on evaluations/test results.
• Maintain proper medical documentation and insurance claims.
• Inventory tracking, distribution and maintenance of supplies.
• Initiate frequent communication with coaching staff, administrators, sports medicine staff, and other medical professionals.
• Coordinate pre-participation exams and the medical clearance process.
• Supervise sports medicine staff.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Standing and/or sitting for long periods.
• Carrying heavy sports medicine equipment and supplies.
• Performing duties in inclement weather (e.g. hot, raining, cold, windy, etc.)
• Medical Care Decision Making.
• Familiarity with the electronic medical records systems and the the latest therapeutic modalities including STIM/ US units, Hyperice, Normatec, whirlpools, etc.
