Job Overview
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
- Significant experience in coaching or organizational leadership.
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership position with adults.
- Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.
- Responsible for the coordination of the school district’s athletic program.
- Monitors the activities of students and staff to ensure the school’s compliance with regulations of the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA).
- Provides for safety planning and consistent updates and awareness training on Emergency Action Plans (EAP’s) and safety protocols.
- Coordinates the interpretation of AHSAA rules with the entire coaching staff.
- Secures from coaches the appropriate student athletic eligibility forms and information to be sent to the AHSAA.
- Provides advice to the principals regarding fine points of the AHSAA regulations and makes recommendations for action as necessary.
- Provides overall coordination for the scheduling of the various athletic activities under the sponsorship of the VHCS.
- Provides in-service education opportunities for fellow coaches and one-to-one guidance as needed and conducts coaches’ meetings during the school year.
- Coordinates and/or organizes the various awards banquets and other recognition activities sponsored by the schools' athletic programs.
