Job Overview
The Head Coach, in collaboration with the Director of Athletics, is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, supervising, and executing all aspects of the individual sports program. This role requires close coordination with others to ensure alignment with the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletic program. The Head Coach reports directly to the Director of Athletics. Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • Collegiate-level experience in cross country/track and field is essential.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Must exemplify high moral character consistent with the mission and values of Chestnut Hill College.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the assigned sport, including training and conditioning techniques, with the ability to assess athlete performance and implement appropriate corrective strategies.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with student-athletes and their families.
Responsibilities:
  • Assign duties and responsibilities to assistant coaches to ensure efficient program operation.
  • Lead recruitment efforts by identifying and engaging prospective student-athletes, in collaboration with the Admissions and Athletic Departments.
  • Recruit a minimum of 30 student-athletes annually, with attention to managing net tuition revenue targets.
  • Effectively manage the program’s scholarship budget.
  • Ensure full compliance with all College, Departmental, Conference, and NCAA policies; communicate relevant regulations to assistant coaches and student-athletes. This includes the annual completion of the NCAA coaching certification test.
  • Collaborate with the Athletic Director to develop the annual program budget by clearly articulating operational and strategic needs.
  • Coordinate with the Associate Athletic Director to schedule competitions and meets.
  • Attend all meetings as required by the Athletic Director.
  • Provide leadership that fosters positive attitudes, good sportsmanship, and a team-oriented environment.
  • Engage with student-athletes in a fair, respectful, and supportive manner.
