The Iowa State University Athletics Department is accepting applications for an Assistant Track & Field Coach with expertise in throwing events to assist the Director of Men’s and Women’s Track and Field with all phases of the NCAA Division I track and field programs to help develop our student-athletes to reach their full potential.
Examples of what you'll do:
- Plan practice sessions and competitive coaching situations (assigned primarily with athletes in the throwing events: Shot put, Weight throw, Discus, Hammer throw, and Javelin).
- Effectively teach, mentor, and coach to develop well-rounded student-athletes and contribute to and enhance a competitive athletic experience.
- Identify and successfully recruit and retain academically qualified and athletically talented student-athletes.
- Establish and maintain an environment conducive to the welfare and academic success of the student-athletes and help ensure academic progress and graduation.
- Assist with meet management planning, logistics and operations.
- Assist with administrative functions.
- Adhere to University, Conference and NCAA policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Establish and maintain effective interactions with the students, colleagues, university community, alumni, media, and the public.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience coaching or competing in track & field, including throwing events , at a highly competitive level (post high school).
