The Iowa State University Athletics Department is accepting applications for an Assistant Track & Field Coach with expertise in throwing events to assist the Director of Men’s and Women’s Track and Field with all phases of the NCAA Division I track and field programs to help develop our student-athletes to reach their full potential.

Examples of what you'll do:

  1. Plan practice sessions and competitive coaching situations (assigned primarily with athletes in the throwing events: Shot put, Weight throw, Discus, Hammer throw, and Javelin).
  2. Effectively teach, mentor, and coach to develop well-rounded student-athletes and contribute to and enhance a competitive athletic experience.
  3. Identify and successfully recruit and retain academically qualified and athletically talented student-athletes.
  4. Establish and maintain an environment conducive to the welfare and academic success of the student-athletes and help ensure academic progress and graduation.
  5. Assist with meet management planning, logistics and operations.
  6. Assist with administrative functions.
  7. Adhere to University, Conference and NCAA policies, procedures, and regulations.
  8. Establish and maintain effective interactions with the students, colleagues, university community, alumni, media, and the public.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree.
  2. Experience coaching or competing in track & field, including throwing events at a highly competitive level (post high school).
