Responsibilities:

1. Create an inclusive and fun environment for participants by actively engaging and building relationships with participants, parents, and coaches.
2. Represent the Y at assigned sites through effective site and equipment management, knowledge of the activity or sport, and by role modeling the Y’s core values.
3. Create a safe environment by educating participants, parents, and volunteers using the Y voice attributes and responding swiftly to incidents when they occur.
4. Provide appropriate feedback to participants, parents, and volunteers using the Y voice attributes.
5. Implement leading practices and the established curriculum that helps youth achieve the five Cause Measurement goals.
6. Work closely with Coordinator and Director to ensure program area operations are consistent with approved Leading Practices.
7. Engage participants and volunteers to deepen their relationships in the Y cause.

Qualifications:

1. Track and Field and/or Cross-Country experience required.
2. Coaching experience preferred.
3. Excellent human relations skills and an ability to maintain position communication with staff and members.
4. Ability to address and make solid decision in emergency situations
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including telephone etiquette and computer use.
6. Prior experience of successful supervisor of staff and volunteer preferred.
7. Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.
