Job Overview
The Head Girls' Softball Coach is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the St. Francis High School softball program. This includes providing direction, instruction, and leadership to student-athletes and assistant coaches. The Head Coach will work closely with the Activities Director to ensure alignment with the district's athletic goals and expectations. A core responsibility of this role is to promote the health, safety, and welfare of every student-athlete participating in the program
Qualifications:
- Valid Minnesota Coaching Certificate or completion of MSHSL coaching requirements.
- Strong knowledge of the game of softball.
Major Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of the softball program, including training, conditioning, athlete selection, and skill development.
- Hire, mentor, and manage qualified assistant coaches with the support of the Activities Director.
- Develop and implement effective practice plans aligned with conference and MSHSL standards.
- Serve as an active member of the Minnesota State High School Coaches Association (MSHSCA), including nominating athletes for applicable awards.
- Collaborate with the Activities Director and Community Education to create field schedules for practices and games.
- Model and promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and ethical behavior in alignment with the Coach’s Code of Ethics and conference guidelines.
- Enforce compliance with MSHSL and St. Francis High School policies and expectations.
- Create and distribute a pre-season team handbook outlining team rules, expectations, and letter requirements (template provided by the Activities Director).
- Ensure athlete safety at all times during practices, games, and team travel; supervise locker room use.
- Foster positive relationships with athletes, parents, school staff, the media, and the local community; support youth softball initiatives and booster club efforts.
