Job Overview

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist the head coach formulating objectives for the coming sport season.
  2. Mentor, develop and evaluate athletes throughout the season.
  3. Have understanding and knowledge of rules and regulations as presented in the WIAA Handbook, League Handbook and Athletic/Activity Handbook.
  4. The coach must constantly uphold the honor and dignity of the profession. In all personal contact with the student athlete, officials, Athletic/Activity directors, school administrators, the WIAA, the media and the public, the coach shall strive to set an example of the highest ethical and moral conduct.
  5. Assist head coach in verifying inventory and arrange for a systemic issuance of school equipment/uniforms.
  6. Apply discipline in a firm and positive manner as outlined in the Athletic/Activity Handbook and Student Handbook.
  7. Implement procedures as outlined in the Athletic/Activity Handbook.
  8. Assist in responsibility for constant care of equipment and facilities being used.
  9. Assist supervisory control over all phases of the team in program.
  10. Apply discipline in a firm and positive manner as outlined in the Athletic/Activity Handbook and Student Handbook.
  11. See that the building regulations are understood and enforced.
  12. Emphasize safety precautions, be aware of current training and injury procedures and have a current First Aid Card/CPR card.
  13. When a serious injury occurs which requires immediate medical attention, the coach in charge must take appropriate fir aid measures. If a physician, emergency medical technician (EMT) or other medical professional is present, his/her assistance shall be requested. Call 911 if additional emergency medical assistance is required. All coaches are required to have WSVSD Emergency Medical Information and Authorization forms for every student athlete on their team eligibility list at all games and practices.
