ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

Start Date: July 1, 2026

MISSION STATEMENT

At Good Counsel, a Catholic high school sponsored by the Xaverian Brothers, we inspire

our students to excel, serve, and love.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Our Lady of Good Counsel High School is searching for its next Athletic Director, who

will begin in July 2026. The Athletic Director provides strategic leadership, vision, and

operational oversight for a nationally competitive interscholastic athletic program. The

Director is responsible for building and sustaining an athletics culture defined by

competitive excellence, integrity, sportsmanship, and the holistic development of

student-athletes in our Catholic and Xaverian tradition.

The Athletic Director oversees all aspects of the athletics department, including program

strategy, coaching leadership, scheduling, facilities, compliance, budgets, and

student-athlete welfare. The role requires managing a large and complex athletics

program that competes in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) and

nationally while maintaining alignment with the school’s academic mission and Catholic

Xaverian values.

The Athletic Director is a community builder, collaborator, and skilled communicator

who strengthens the partnerships between faculty, students, and parents. The Athletic

Director works closely with the President, Principal, Assistant Principal for Student Life,

and senior school leaders to ensure that athletics enhances the educational experience

and contributes positively to the school’s reputation and community. The Athletic

Director reports to both the President and Principal and will participate in an annual

performance review conducted by both. The review will consider progress toward

performance indicators, strategic program development, and alignment with the school’s

mission and community expectations. This position directly supervises two Assistant

Athletic Directors, a Director of Strength & Conditioning, a Director of Sports Medicine,

Athletic Trainers, and head coaches of all team sports.

REGIONALLY AND NATIONALLY RANKED ATHLETICS

Good Counsel’s top-ranked athletics program allows student-athletes to compete at the

highest level. Over the past two years, Good Counsel has graduated 87 NCAA

student-athletes who are earning $10.5 million in scholarships to compete at the next

level. Nationally recognized as a premier athletics program, Good Counsel holds 75+

Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) titles from the past decade alone. The

nearly 800 students who join the Good Counsel Athletics’ 40+ programs learn

self-respect, self-discipline, and self-esteem. Most importantly, they understand

themselves better as they strive to live the Xaverian values on and off the field.

Good Counsel graduates have won at the Penn Relays, played at the highest level of

Division I athletics, and traveled throughout the country to compete. They’ve even won

gold in the Olympics, played in the NBA, NFL, and competed on the U.S. Women’s

National Soccer Team. Their efforts bring honor to our school and earn the respect and

admiration of their opponents.

OUR CAMPUS

Good Counsel is located in Olney, MD. The campus is home to exceptional academic,

arts, worship, and athletic facilities constructed in 2007. This includes 12 science and
