Carrollwood Day School is seeking an engaging and passionate educator/administrator to join
our Athletics team as our Assistant Athletic Director. The ideal candidate will be a natural team
player, will be highly organized, and will inspire student athletes every day.

Carrollwood Day School (www.CDSPatriots.org) is an innovative International Baccalaureate
(IB) independent school located in North Tampa, FL. Since the inception of CDS in 1982, we
have prided ourselves on being a community of learners. We have grown from a preschool into
a comprehensive program serving more than 1,200 students from age two through 12th grade.

Athletics is an essential and vital part of the educational program at Carrollwood Day School
and serves to enhance the overall educational experience of our students. Our athletic
philosophy focuses on sportsmanship, student-athletes understanding and focusing on excellent
teamwork, and developing competitive individuals and teams. The athletic department takes to
heart the school motto of “Education with Character.”

CDS hosts 56 teams at the Middle and Upper School levels and a developmental athletics
program in the Lower School. Most recently, we have added Boys Volleyball to our program.
Since 2022, the CDS Patriots have captured 2 team State Championships (Girls Volleyball &
Boys Soccer), 2 Individual State Championships (Discus and Triple Jump), 10 Regional Finalists
teams, 25 top two District finishes, including 13 District Championships, along with coveted
awards for sportsmanship and academic performance from the FHSAA. Over the past three
years, we have 50 scholar-athletes who have committed to compete at the collegiate level, with
more in process this year.

The Position of Assistant Athletic Director:
Drive the daily administration and long-term success of the CDS athletic department by
supporting the Athletic Director across all program operations. This role is responsible for
maintaining high standards of departmental integrity through the expert application and
enforcement of FHSAA and regional league regulations.

Job Responsibilities:
• Assist the Athletic Director in all facets of the administration of the athletic program and

serve as the official administrator on duty for on-site game administration in the absence
of the AD
• Understand and enforce all FHSAA and CDS rules and regulations to ensure

departmental compliance
• Participate in the planning and execution of the coaches’ meetings and training seminars

at least once per season
• Take a leadership role in coaching professional development, student leadership

initiatives to embed the CDS culture into athletics
• Create a positive working relationship with parents through timely and consistent

communication about athletic deadlines and events and regular parent meetings
• Assist the Athletic Director in the development and implementation of the annual budget
• Coordinate with HR to oversee and ensure timely onboarding of new staff members,

including background checks, fingerprints, and employee applications
• In collaboration with the AD, identify and hire qualified coaching candidates who align

with the mission and values of the school
• Manage the distribution and collection of all team equipment and uniforms and helps

develop a long-term replacement plan
• Maintain a working knowledge of facility technology, including sound systems,

scoreboards, and lighting at all athletic complexes
• Oversee daily and weekly changes to the athletic schedule and procures off-campus

facilities as needed
• Attend FHSAA scheduling meetings and regional athletic conferences as assigned
• Maintain a high degree of professionalism by returning all phone calls and emails within

24 hours
• Demonstrate a willingness to coach a sport or sports as needed by the department
• Work with the AD and Varsity Head Coaches to regularly observe and evaluate coaches
• Operate with a high degree of collegiality and personal conduct both inside and outside

of the school environment
• Be an active and visible member of the faculty and community by regularly attending

faculty meetings and events
• Be a role model of integrity and professionalism
• Communicate with the Director of Marketing to champion and promote the CDS Athletics

Program
• Commit to keeping current in professional learning practices and educational research

related to athletics administration and physical education
• Work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and regional travel
• Be a team player; cheerfully participate in and/or assist with other duties and routines

regularly part of the school and Athletics environment

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes Needed for Success: Bachelor’s Degree required
• Master’s Degree in a related field preferred
• Previous experience as an athletic administrator preferred
• Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with

students, staff, parents, and the public.
• Ability and willingness to coach a sport or sports
• Exceptional administrative and organizational skills; the ability to prioritize and

successfully manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
• Demonstrated commitment to building cultural competencies and empowering

student-athletes, coaches, parents, and colleagues to engage across differences
• Strong understanding of the academic, social, and emotional development of Middle and

Upper School aged children
• Have a passion for teaching and learning with adolescents and teenagers
• Strong collaborative skills and eagerness to work with colleagues
• Proficiency in the Google suite of products (docs, sheets, drive, etc.)
• Demonstrated organizational and logistical skills
• A valid FL drivers license with an acceptable driving record
• A high degree of professionalism, collegiality, and personal conduct both in and outside

of school
• Must possess and demonstrate the ability, willingness, and judgment to interact and

communicate positively and effectively with a diverse array of constituents in a school
environment
• Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends, and travel regionally
• Enthusiasm and commitment to the vision and mission of the School

This is a full-time 12 month position. Compensation includes competitive salary, comprehensive
