POSITION OPENING: Middle School Track and Field Coach

POSITION: Middle School Track and Field Coach
LOCATION: AVONDALE MIDDLE SCHOOL
REPORTS TO: ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
HOURS: 10-20 HOURS PER WEEK

Track Season- April 13th-May 28th

Practices in Afternoons, immediately following Middle School Dismissal

JOB GOAL: To provide instruction of high school athletes in the fundamental skills and strategy of Track and Field and also instill moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline and self-confidence

WHAT WE NEED:
• Experience Coaching Track and Field
• Experience or plan of building a K-12 Track and Field program
• Knowledge/experience scheduling practices and off season workouts
• Teach techniques and fundamentals of sport
• Be able to demonstrate all skills necessary for the sport
• Be knowledgeable about the rules and regulations of the sport
• Assume the responsibility for constant care of equipment and facilities being used
• Conduct structured practices that stay within the confines of the specified times at the Athletic Department
• Be an example of good character and sportsmanship to team at all times
• Conduct fundraisers to provide money for team supplies and needs

WHAT YOU NEED:
1. Works cooperatively with administrators, students, parents, and community.
2. Ability to assist in all aspects of the Track and Field program.
3. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the field.
5. Develop a positive team culture focused on sportsmanship, accountability, and academic success.
6. Ensure player safety and adherence to district, league, and MHSAA policies.
7. Coordinate offseason conditioning, strength training, and skill development programs.
8. Maintains control of storage and use of school-owned property.
9. Maintains professional competence.
10. Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
