About the position

The Assistant Coach will assist the Head Coach in all aspects of a highly
competitive Division I program. The primary role of this position is to provide
teaching, coaching and technical expertise needed to allow the student-athlete
to compete at their highest competitive potential. Additionally, it is also a
primary responsibility of the incumbent to be cognitive to all coaching and/or
teaching duties associated with the program. This is to include but not be
limited to the oversight and management of the safety and well-being of those
student athletes assigned to their coaching care. In the absence of the Head
Coach, incumbent is expected to act on behalf of the Head Coach on any and all
related program issues.

Responsibilities
• Coordinates the recruitment of qualified student-athletes, including talented
student-athletes from all levels including high school, junior college,
international and collegiate to ensure gains for the WBB program
• Organizes the process of evaluation & tracking of prospective student-
athletes with staff
• Assists with travel involved with recruitment, games/matches, and
tournaments
• Assist with maintenance of accurate files of current and prospective
student-athletes and required NCAA, A-10, and University paperwork
• Utilizes sound teaching techniques in the conduct of game preparation and
practice sessions
• Assists in making strategic decisions in contest situations
• Effectively prepares and organizes pre-season, in-season, and post-season
conditioning programs and practice sessions, including writing the daily
practice plans
• Oversees the strength and conditioning development of the athletes
• Assists the Head Coach in the evaluation of the student-athlete
• Be aware and maintains a safe and healthy environment for the student-
athlete
• Constructs scouting materials and conduct scout meetings
• Effectively recruits the best student-athlete within the admissions,
financial and regulatory constraints established by the University, A-10, and
NCAA.
• Abides by and promotes the aims, goals, and objectives established by the
Athletic Director and Head Coach
• Abides by and promotes the policies, guidelines, rules, regulations and
criteria established by the Athletic Director and Head Coach for the
student-athlete
• Knows, understands and assures that the student-athletes abide by all the
University, Atlantic 10, and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)
Rules and Regulations
• Knows, understands and abides by all University, A10 and NCAA Rules and
Regulations
• Be aware and abides by the rules of confidentiality (Buckley Amendment)
• Understands and abides by proper procedures of due process in dealing with
the student-athlete and staff
• Follows the administrative procedures established by the University and
written up in the Department Staff Handbook
• Assists Head Coach in developing and implementing the overall recruiting
strategy to effectively recruit the best student-athlete within the
admissions, financial and regulatory constraints established by the
University, A10, and NCAA
• Completes CARA logs via ARMS.
• Participates in fundraising efforts and special events.
• Performs other duties as requested by the Assistant Vice President/Director
of Intercollegiate Athletics or Sport Administrator.
• Events and Marketing to plan and implement promotional games
• SID to grow the social media content and impressions
• Works to enhance and identify NIL opportunities for current WBB student-
athletes.

Requirements
• Master’s degree in related field or the equivalent combination of education
and experience
• Significant experience in coaching at the intercollegiate level or
professional experience teaching the sport
• Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations governing recruitment,
eligibility and related functions
• Experience in administrative functions, budgeting, fundraising, promotional
activities and public
• Working knowledge of NCAA and Conference (A10) rules and regulations
• Ability to organize, develop, and execute recruitment plans
• Solid demonstrated knowledge of the sport, including rules, strategies, and
techniques
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school
administrators, parents, and students
• Ability to motivate and inspire players to achieve their full potential
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
• Display leadership qualities and skills
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Nice-to-haves
• Coaching experience in a NCAA Division I level program is preferred
• Knowledge of recruitment techniques and proven ability to bring in high-level
prospects.
