Job Description

Job Title: Athletic Director/Athletic Coach

Reports To: School Principal

FLSA Status: Stipend

Job Summary

The Athletic Director/Athletic Coach is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading a competitive and educational athletic program that promotes student-athlete development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth. The coach ensures compliance with district, conference, and state athletic regulations while fostering a safe and inclusive environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and conduct daily practices and training sessions.

Instruct student-athletes in the rules, strategies, and techniques of the sport.

Promote academic achievement, discipline, and positive character among student-athletes.

Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during practices, games, and travel.

Supervise student-athletes at all times during team-related activities.

Collaborate with the Athletic Director on scheduling, equipment needs, and program operations.

Maintain accurate records, including eligibility, attendance, and inventory.

Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and administration.

Model and enforce good sportsmanship and ethical behavior.

Ensure compliance with all district policies, state athletic association guidelines, and applicable laws.

Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions.

Bus Driver

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.

Prior coaching experience or participation in the sport preferred.

Knowledge of sport-specific skills, rules, and conditioning techniques.

Ability to motivate and develop student-athletes.

Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Current CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).

Completion of required background checks and district clearances.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in indoor and outdoor athletic settings.

Requires evening, weekend, and travel commitments.

Exposure to varying weather conditions.

Physical Requirements

Ability to demonstrate athletic skills and techniques.

Standing, walking, running, and lifting equipment up to 50 pounds.

Terms of Employment

Employment is seasonal and contingent upon program needs, student participation, and Board approval.

Compensation is based on the district’s approved coaching supplement schedule.

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with district policies and procedures by the Athletic Director and/or School Principal.
