Assistant Football Coach (Multiple Positions)

Position Title: Assistant Football Coach
Department/Section: Athletics
Supervisor: Athletic Director/ Principal
Location: Coconino High School
Compensation: Special Service Contract ($2000.00 – $3000.00 Depending on Coaching Level – Varsity, JV, Freshmen)
Summary
Coconino High School is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Football Coaches for the 2026-2027 season. This seasonal position offers a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced coaching staff to develop student-athletes both on and off the field. Ideal candidates will possess a passion for football, a commitment to fostering a positive team environment, and the ability to inspire and motivate young athletes.
Responsibilities
– Assist the head coach in planning and implementing daily practice sessions, game strategies, and player development programs.
– Provide instruction and support to student-athletes during practice and games, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
– Help organize and supervise team activities, including practices, games, and team meetings.
– Monitor the academic performance and personal development of student-athletes, ensuring compliance with school policies and eligibility requirements.
– Collaborate with other coaching staff to evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback.
– Assist in the recruitment and selection of student-athletes for the football program.
– Promote a positive and inclusive team culture that emphasizes respect, discipline, and hard work.
– Attend coaching clinics and workshops to further enhance coaching skills and knowledge of the game.
– Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team activities and expectations.
Requirements
– NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Course & NFHS Concussion Course Required upon Hire
– Previous coaching experience or playing experience at the high school, college, or professional level preferred.
– Strong knowledge of football techniques, strategies, and rules of the game.
– Ability to work effectively with high school students and foster a supportive and motivating environment.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
– Strong organizational and time management abilities.
– Certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred or must be obtained prior to the start of the season.
– Must pass a background check as required by school district policies.
– Availability to work evenings and weekends during the football season.
