Description
To provide a developmental physical education program for all identified students, enabling them to participate successfully in the most integrate setting possible while facilitating the development of motor skills fostering social experiences, and promoting a safe, healthy lifestyle.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in kinesiology / physical education.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate in the area of physical education.
- Experience working with students with various disabilities required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and provide adapted physical education services consistent with adapted PE goals contained in student’s Individual Educational Plan (IEP).
- Evaluate student progress and determine readiness for termination of adapted PE services
- Develop activity modifications and/or alternative activities for individual students; provide equipment needed to execute these modifications or alternative activities.
- Collaborate with regular physical education teachers to ensure student success through use of modifications and program planning.
- Provide general physical education teachers with updated medical information and restrictions as needed, and address mobility and safety issues within the PE setting.
- Consult with educational staff to ensure modifications are being provided appropriately.
- Provide staff development training in assigned school(s) to assist personnel with implementation of curriculum modifications, as needed.
