Description
Duties:
- Provide an appropriate and innovative adapted P.E. program in order to meet individual student needs in physical fitness, gross motor skills, perceptual motor skills, sports and game achievement.
- Provide direct instruction in adaptive physical education to students with disabilities.
- Provide motor and fitness evaluations for recommended students.
- Provide requested reports of progress on children served (quarterly).
- Provide consultative services to general education PE teachers.
- Attend IEP conferences and annual reviews when determined necessary.
- Maintain open communication with the teacher, parents and school health professionals.
- Participate in in-service training to discuss program evaluations, new research endorsed techniques, and other topics.
- Recommend necessary equipment and provide instruction on proper usage.
Qualifications:
- Appropriate Illinois licensure (PEL) with approval for adaptive physical education.
- Experience with school age children with multiple impairment.
- Ability to travel between sites.
- Ability to lift 30 pounds.
