Description
West Hills College Coalinga is looking for a dynamic individual to be responsible for the Softball program. The coach is expected to communicate with the student/athletes, recruit student/athletes for the program, supervise student study sessions, develop and manage the Softball program budget, and follow the guidelines of the Athletic Department and the California Community College Athletic Association.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Advise and instruct students on theory and practice of Softball.
- Coach and direct the WHC Coalinga Softball team.
- Develop and implement a strong student-athlete recruitment program to ensure efficient number of quality student-athletes to maintain a viable roster and competitive program.
- Assist in building strong relations between the community and athletic department, particularly with high schools of the District.
- Develop and manage the WHC Coaling Softball budget.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, cultural, disability, religious background of community college students.
- Bachelor's degree and two years of experience, or any associate degree and six years of experience.
- Some successful high school/community college/university level softball coaching experience; athletic recruiting experience; fundraising experience; involvement in community organizations and activities.
