Description
The Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications reports to the Senior Associate Athletics Director of External Affairs and is responsible for the development and administration of all athletic communications and media relations for the University’s Division I Intercollegiate Athletic Program in accordance with all NCAA regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Three to five years of experience in sports information, athletic administration, journalism or public relations required. Experience at the Division I level preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of Genius Sports-LiveStats and StatCrew statistical programs are essential; knowledge of the following computer programs is also required: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Premier.
- Familiarity with the working press.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Willingness to travel, and work varied and flexible hours as required including evenings and weekends.
- Accessibility to a car for travel to away games and as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record in accordance with the university’s Motor Vehicle Policy. A DMV check will be required at the time of hire and thereafter as deemed appropriate by the university. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the DMV check.
