Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supports the design and administration of a robust, competitive interscholastic athletics program for students of secondary-school age and age-appropriate programs of intramural/club athletics for all students.
- Develops and implements a strategic plan to increase athletic participation by all students in grades K-12 with measurable goals and objectives, subject to review and approval by the Superintendent or his/her designee
- Designs and carries out year-round, school-based experiences for all students, K-12, to gain exposure to a variety of age-appropriate athletic skills, drills, and competition, where appropriate and subject to PIAA rules and regulations. Experiences can include learn-to-play clinics, mini-camps, skills combines, and conditioning/cross-training events.
- Develops and cultivates partnerships with local youth sports and other athletics organization to support the growth of the Department and increase student-athlete participation, K-12.
- Prepares and delivers professional development to District coaching staff and other interested parties, including local club coaches, parents, and District staff, to support student-athlete development.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Education, Sports Management/Administration, or related field, required.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Education, Sports Management/Administration, or related field, preferred.
- Demonstrated experience developing and managing an operating budget, required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of PIAA rules and regulations, required.
- 3-5 years coaching or officiating experience in PIAA-sanctioned, interscholastic athletics, required.
- Exposure to and familiarity with a wide-variety of school and neighborhood-based sports and athletic opportunities, required.
- Prior experience serving as an Assistant Athletics Director, league manager/director, or similarly high-ranking executive role in an organization providing opportunities for school-aged students to engage in athletics, required; with said experience in an urban setting preferred.
