Description
Saginaw Valley State University, a DII member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, invites applications for the position of Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer. The University’s athletic program fields 20 Division II intercollegiate teams (9 men’s and 11 women’s) and boasts more than 500 student-athletes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIIES:
- Adhere to all applicable NCAA and conference compliance rules and regulations.
- Ensure that all Department of Athletics and University related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department’s efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations.
- Abides by NCAA Bylaws 10.1 and 11.1 regarding ethical conduct and the responsibility to positively contribute to a campus culture of NCAA rules compliance.
- Provide leadership and oversight to a team of athletic trainers, who are committed to delivering the highest level of healthcare to SVSU student-athletes.
- Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with team physicians and their support staff to ensure efficient and effective care.
- Supervise and Mentor Assistant Athletic Trainers, Per Diem Athletic Trainers, Interns and Student Workers.
- Supervise Athletic Training Budget, including fundraising.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in athletic training.
- National Athletic Trainer’s Association (NATA) Board of Certification.
- Licensed, or eligible for state licensure, by the Michigan Board of Athletic Training Examiners.
- Individuals must be CPR, AED, and First Aid Certified.
- Knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a diverse community.
- Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodations.
- Required to work nights and weekends.
- Required to travel with programs as requested.
