Description
The Assistant Athletic Director will work in tandem with the Athletic Director to coordinate all aspects regarding sports and NMAA sanctioned events at Los Alamos Middle School and Los Alamos High School. The Assistant Athletic Director will support the education, training and support the Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches at Los Alamos Public Schools. A particular emphasis will be focused on sportsmanship, integrity and collaboration.
ESSENTIAL DUITES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Athletic Director in all facets of athletic department operations.
- Coordinate the organization and operation of Los Alamos Middle School Athletic operations.
- Conduct annual reviews of Head Coaches and support the process with Assistant Coaches.
- Coordinate with the maintenance department the repair and care of athletic fields, tracks, and gymnasiums.
- Keep informed of the rules and regulations of the athletic program, school district and state association.
- Lead with a philosophy of education-based athletics.
- Attend and serve as the school liaison at athletic booster meetings.
- Serve as the liaison between the coaches and booster clubs.
- Prepare and monitor and contest contracts.
- In conjunction with the Athletic Director, attend as many contests, meets and events as possible to ensure appropriate supervision.
EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree (Education or Sports Management Preferred).
- Master Degree in Education or Sports Management beneficial.
- 3-5 years as an Administrator in College / University or High School.
- 3-5 years as a Head Coach at College / University or High School.
- NIAAA Certification preferred (ability to obtain will be supported).
