Director will provide leadership and supervision for the Athletics Academic Advising unit for all 18 sports and 300+ student-athletes. Provides academic advising and student support services for student-athletes in assigned sport programs, including men’s and women’s basketball. Monitors student-athlete academic and personal development progress and employs intervention strategies as necessary, including referral to a variety of central campus resources. Director will work with student-athlete development staff to create and implement department-wide student-athlete development programs and services. Director will work in coordination with the Athletics Department’s compliance office, the Provost’s office, the Office of Disability Services, University College Academic Advising Staff, and the institution’s Faculty Athletic Representative, to ensure student-athlete academic activity remains in compliance with university, conference and NCAA policies and procedures. The Director will serve as a role model and mentor to supervised staff and student-athletes and will proactively represent the athletics department on a variety of internal committees and through professional communication with campus stakeholders.
Master’s degree. 5+ years’ experience in student-athlete academic advising and counseling at the NCAA Division I level. Previous oversight of an NCAA Division I Academic Advising Unit. Experience working with men’s or women’s basketball in an advising capacity.
