Description
Reporting to the Deputy Director of Athletics, the Assistant Athletics Director, Facilities & Event Operations will have primary duties of managing the student-worker staff, event and facility operations for varsity sports, club sports, intramurals and external clients, oversight of the spurrier-snyder rink, and daily operations of Wesleyan University’s athletic and physical education facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations and scheduling of the Freeman Athletics Center for practice, competition, recreational use, club sports, intramural sports, rental events, and physical education classes.
- Resolve scheduling conflicts as needed. Maintain accurate schedules for all facilities and fields at the Freeman Athletics Center using the campus software, EMS.
- Management and supervision of the Zamboni operators and rink staff including, mentoring, training, and providing feedback.
- Oversee crowd management, event management, and facility set-up and breakdown for various practices, contests, and events.
- Coordinate travel logistics with visiting athletic teams and game officials.
- Oversee all operations in the Spurrier-Snyder rink including hiring Zamboni operators, scheduling rink staff, and scheduling necessary maintenance.
- Oversee scheduling for all constituents in the Spurrier-Snyder Rink including both internal and external clients.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of experience in college athletics and/or graduate assistant program management or an equivalent combination of education training, and experience.
- Basic knowledge of athletic facility management or comparable experience including knowledge of athletic facilities and game protocols.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the daily operations of an intercollegiate athletics department.
- Proven experience with hiring and interviewing.
- Must be able to lift, hold, carry, pack, unpack, transport and deliver materials, supplies and athletic equipment weighing up to approximately 50 lbs. to and from events or designated locations with or without accommodation.
- Demonstrated commitment to work within a diverse environment and interact collegially with individuals of different backgrounds.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
