Description
Reporting to the Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Health, Well-Being, and Performance, the Assistant Athletics Director, Sports Medicine will oversee the Athletic Training Program by performing the following duties:
- Oversees medical care of all student-athletes, including supervision of multiple professional staff and several graduate assistants.
- Oversees University’s secondary insurance program.
- Serves as NCAA Drug Testing Site Coordinator and ensures compliance with all appropriate NCAA, Conference, University, and Department policies pertaining to drug testing and medical care, including management of GW Athletics Institutional Drug Testing Program.
- Manage Athletic Training Budget, including staffing, supplies, and capital expenditures.
- Serves as Athletic Trainer for at least the time assigned by the Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Health, Well-Being, and Performance
- Collaborates with the Strength and Conditioning team to ensure proper protocol regarding student-athlete injuries and rehabilitations.
- Communicates with individual sport coaches regarding athletic training issues and injury concerns.
Qualifications:
- Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 3 years of relevant professional experience.
- Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
- Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
