The Assistant Baseball Coach will be responsible to the Director of Athletics and the Head Baseball Coach. The duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Baseball Coach shall be, but not limited to, the following: 1) Assist Head Baseball Coach with team workouts, team travel, recruiting, budgeting, video, practice/game preparation, scheduling, etc.; 2) To provide academic counseling and advisement for all team players ; 3) Supervise Study Hall; 4) Arrange for tutors in Learning Lab; 5) Conduct periodic grade checks; 6) Assist in dorm supervision and dining hall when needed providing there is no conflict with athletic activities; 7) Teach two sections of athletic techniques and weight training courses in the Fall and Spring semester; 8) Follow and abide by the NJCAA and WJCAC rules, guidelines, and/or policies; 9) Manage and organize the NMJC pitching staff; 10) May serve on various campus committees as assigned; 11) Performs other duties as assigned or required; and, 12) Nothing contained herein shall limit the President in assigning the employee to any of the various college activities for which he/she would be qualified in order to meet the needs of New Mexico Junior College.
Bachelor's degree required. Experience as a college baseball player or Assistant Coach in baseball. Sound background and knowledge of baseball coaching. Must be committed to excellence in instruction/coaching and willing to work.
Salary is based on the NMJC faculty salary schedule and is commensurate with education and experience for a nine month position. Coaching stipend of $5,000 will be added to base salary. Standard employee benefits apply.
