Description
The Assistant Lacrosse Coach is responsible for assisting with the visionary leadership for the Lacrosse Program. The Assistant Lacrosse Coach will work with the Head Coach to manage the day-to-day operations of the program, including recruiting within the school, oversight and management of the staff, and development of individual team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing and supervising athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions, to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
- Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in Lacrosse.
- Help coordinate the development and promotion of the Lacrosse Program across the school community.
- Play a role in creating a coaching staff that works together toward a common goal within the Lacrosse Program and provides unity across all levels and teams.
- Assist with the establishment of performance criteria for competition and evaluate student’ athletic abilities initially and on an ongoing basis.
- Assist with development of a regular practice schedule and organize practice time to provide both individual and team development.
- Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation at all times.
- Work with the Strength and Conditioning Coach to provide a year round strength and conditioning program.
- Use the allotted days by the MSHSL in June and July to provide athletes the opportunity to do Lacrosse specific training.
Education and/or Experience:
- Experience coaching Lacrosse at the high school level.
- Effective coaching techniques and skills.
- Knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, governing organizations (MSHSL, etc.), opponents, staff, parents, and athletes.
