Assistant Coach – After-School Flag Rugby League

The San Diego Legion Community Foundation is partnering with the Escondido Unified School District to launch a 10-week Escondido After-School Flag Rugby League this Fall. We are seeking enthusiastic and responsible Assistant Coaches to help lead this exciting program! This is a 10-week seasonal role that will run from September 16th through November 23rd. The salary range for this role is $60 - $100 per session.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in coaching after-school flag rugby practices for Escondido Unified School District students.
• Collaborate with a San Diego Legion Player who will be assigned to each school.
• Ensure a safe, fun, and positive environment for all participants.
• Manage practice sessions twice a week lasting 1.5 hours, starting around 2:00-2:30 PM depending on school dismissal times.
• Lead and support students in weekly Saturday morning games starting in week 4.

Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Understanding of the sport of Rugby and its principles.
• Ability to effectively manage time and lead groups of children.
• Reliable and responsible with strong leadership skills.
• Experience working with children is highly preferred.
• Rugby experience is not required but is preferred.
• Must pass a background check and TB test.
