Description
Scope of Responsibility:
- Assists the head coach in providing overall supervision of the soccer program.
- Assists the head coach in maintenance, inventory, and issuance of all equipment.
- Builds sportsmanship as well as provides good public relations in the school and community.
- Ensures all student athletes have a current physical exam.
- Ensures that all student athletes have adequate insurance coverage as specified by the JPPSS and the LHSAA, and that proper documentation on each student signed by the parent / legal guardian to purchase or decline extra insurance exists.
- Participates in professional development through workshops, literature, clinics and seminars.
- Acquires thirty-six (36) Continuing Learning Units (CLUs) per year (July 1 through June 30).
- Adheres to Parish and State requirements for promptly reporting rosters, schedules, scores, eligibility or documentation of incidents or injuries.
- Cooperates, communicates and works with the school based athletic director and administrator in charge of athletics.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate, CECP completion and/or current LHSAA requirements.
- Possess a CDL class B or above with a P and S endorsement free of air brake restrictions.
- Meet all requirements of the Louisiana Department of Education school bus driver component.
- Employment with the Jefferson Parish Public School System as a teacher and/or administrator. Must meet the requirements in Article 3.3 (Faculty Coaches) of the LHSAA handbook.
- Demonstrated expertise, knowledge and competency in basic soccer fundamentals.
- Professional knowledge of LHSAA and JPPSS rules and regulations for soccer.
- Expertise, knowledge and competency in conditioning of athletes sport specific.
