Description
The Assistant Coach of Women’s Rugby assists in all aspects of the intercollegiate Women’s Rugby team including practice, planning, game strategy, team travel and other team events when appropriate. This is a great opportunity for a candidate to start or develop their career as a NCAA rugby coach.
Education/Skills Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in physical education or related field is strongly preferred.
- Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification or obtained upon hire.
- Knowledge of Rugby strategy and training methods and ability to effectively teach them.
- Working knowledge of NCAA and NESCAC rules and an understanding of the philosophy behind them.
- Ability to motivate and effectively communicate with student-athletes.
- Commitment to being a positive member of the Athletics Department, the college community and the ability to influence his/her athletes to do the same.
- Ability to be self-directed and work independently in a stressful environment.
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents:
- Demonstrated effectiveness in coaching Women’s Rugby preferred.
- Experience competing in rugby at a high level (Professional, Regional and National team) preferred.
