The Assistant Coach/Pitching Coach, Softball reports to the Head Softball Coach and is responsible for all aspects of The University of Tulsa’s NCAA Division I Softball Program. This position will serve as the primary pitching coach for the softball program. This position will perform as a positive role model for student-athletes in an upbeat environment that strives for academic and athletic excellence and will establish a professional relationship with student-athletes, staff, alumni and the public in an effort to promote the university and its athletic program.
Assists the head coach in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition.
Serves as a positive role model for student-athletes.
Assists the head coach, as directed, in the recruitment of student-athletes in accordance with NCAA rules and university standards.
Assists, as appropriate, in planning and arranging team travel; may coordinate personnel and equipment transportation and accommodations.
Establishes a productive, well-rounded environment which stresses the importance of academics in conjunction with athletics.
Establishes a professional relationship with students, staff, alumni and the general public in an effort to promote the university and its athletics program.
Works closely with athletic training, academics and strength and conditioning to monitor the progress of student athletes.
Supports the student-athlete concept by demonstrating concern for the health, safety, and welfare of each student-athlete.
Works cooperatively and responsibly with other departmental personnel.
Other duties as assigned by Head Softball Coach.
Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years collegiate coaching experience; excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills; strong self-starter; ability to work within the American Athletic Conference; knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; ability to work closely with a diverse group of people.
Master’s Degree; collegiate playing experience; and demonstrated ability to work effectively with student-athletes, faculty, coaches and administrators.
