Description
Longwood University invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Assistant Coach, Sports Performance - Olympic Sports / Education Support Specialist II (T0028). The Assistant Director of Sports Performance will be responsible for developing and implementing sports performance programs for 3-6 assigned teams.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop and implement sports performance programs for 3-6 assigned teams, including but not limited to resistance training, conditioning, power development, athlete monitoring, and speed and agility training.
- Motivate and oversee student-athletes during weight room sessions.
- Track and record team training results to demonstrate progress.
- Collaborate with Student-Athlete Enhancement team members to develop a comprehensive wellness plan for student-athletes.
- Collaborate with other Student-Athlete Enhancement team members to plan and implement educational sessions for student-athletes.
- Oversee and maintain the cleanliness of the weight room.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree is required; a master's degree is preferred.
- CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) and SCCC (Strength and Conditioning Certification) are required.
- CPR/First Aid certified.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience working at the Division I level.
- Experience working with or playing Division I baseball.
- Experience using TeamBuildr software.
- Ability to manage student-athlete educational workshops on various topics, including but not limited to nutrition, hydration, sleep, and recovery methods.
- Proven ability to enhance sport coach education in the area of sports performance.
- Knowledge of NCAA Division I compliance and the general environment.
