Description
The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach reports to the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and will assist with the design, development, implementation, monitoring and assessment of strength and conditioning programs for five to seven intercollegiate programs at the NCAA Division II level. The Assistant Coach will work cooperatively with coaching and athletic training staff to: develop team and individualized strength programs and nutrition plans in a positive and motivating environment, assist in the oversight and maintenance of two weight rooms and equipment.
Position Responsibilities:
- Work with assigned teams to develop pre-season, in-season and off-season programs.
- Evaluate individual strengths and weaknesses of student-athletes and develop strategies to enhance performance.
- Design individualized work-out plans; implement testing programs; maintain appropriate records; monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of program based on individual results and data collected.
- Assist with daily maintenance and staffing of weight room/strength facilities as well as assist in scheduling weight room training for the various athletic programs and assist in identifying and purchasing appropriate strength and conditioning equipment.
- Assist in other duties, responsibilities, and assignments as determined by the Director of Athletics and Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required in Health, Nutrition, Exercise Science or related field with a background or education in dietetics.
- 1-3 years’ experience required.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and comp.uter skills
- Must possess a current CPR certification at time of hire or must attain certification within one month of the date of hire.
- National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of NCAA DII rules and regulations.
- Ability to demonstrate and communicate proper spotting and lifting techniques.
