Description
The purpose of this position is to assist the Director of Strength & Conditioning with all aspects of Division I strength and conditioning training program. This position provides comprehensive assistance to the Athletics Department in the area of providing strength and conditioning instruction to assigned teams. This position will provide instruction to assigned teams that includes teaching proper skills and techniques, teaching basic physical health concepts to include nutritional education, teaching team and individual leadership concepts/skills as well as providing general safety instruction.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with developing and promoting all facets of the University’s strength training program.
- Design all instructional/training in-season/off-season strength & conditioning programs specific to assigned teams and individuals.
- Collaborate with sport coaches and sports medicine staff to optimize athlete health, wellness, development, and performance.
- Teach basic physical health concepts (to include nutritional education) specific to assigned teams and individuals.
- Provide instruction related to team and leadership concepts/skills specific to assigned teams and individuals.
- Provide general safety instruction for all activities in which the team and/or individuals participate. Specifically instruct student-athletes on safe training and exercise techniques.
- Provide support and encouragement to promote the mental well-being of the student-athletes.
- Serve as a role model and demonstrate a professional working relationship with student-athletes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science/Kinesiology or Wellness or similar field.
- 2 years collegiate S&C experience (graduate assistant or employee).
- Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist/Coach (SCCC) . Must show proof in application materials.
- First Aid/CPR/AED Certified (all three). Must show copies of certification cards.
- Experience instructing student athletes on safe training and exercise techniques.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Other License(s) or Certification(s): First Aid/CPR/AED certified, CSCS or SCCC.
