Description
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Assists the head coach by planning, critiquing and implementing strategies designed to achieve athletic success in a competitive track program.
- Develops student-athletes at the DII level by using effective coaching techniques to critique and improve the student -athletes’ skills and performance during sporting competition.
- Providing a safe environment for, and instructing student-athletes on, safety issues within the track and field arena.
- Preparation and organization of daily practice schedules.
- In collaboration with the athletic training staff, design sport specific strength and conditioning program for optimal development of coordination, power, speed, agility.
- Enforces team discipline and policies by providing guidance and counsel to student-athletes.
- Cooperate with all coaches and administrative staff in order to enhance overall departmental operations.
- Maintains staff confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- USATF Level 1 or equivalent.
- 3 years of prior experience of coaching required at the college/university level.
- Coaching experience in the hurdles, relays, jumps and sprinting events are preferred.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
- Must have a valid driver’s license. May be asked to pass a driving test (driving school vehicles), and to provide a driver’s abstract covering the past three years.
- Must pass NCAA D-II Rules Test.
Must hold current American Red Cross CPR / First Aid certification.
