Description
The Assistant Coach provides leadership and direction to all facets of the program in advancing the mission of the University and Department of Athletics. Specific areas of responsibility include (but are not limited to) sport specific coaching, recruitment, student-athlete development (including academic support), program administration and program advancement yielding agreed upon results.
Responsibilities:
- Develop student-athletes with counseling, advising, educating and motivating.
- Develop student-athletes through inspiration, discipline and rewards.
- Monitor, evaluate and retain student-athletes.
- Assist in team building and character development with student-athletes.
- Assist in planning (practices, training sessions, team and individual conditioning, line-ups and competitive strategies).
- Assist in instruction and demonstration of techniques and skills.
- Assist in evaluating/assessing, effectiveness and results.
- Assist in adapting/refining strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience as a student athlete; Master's Degree preferred.
- One to three years of related work experience.
- NCAA Certification required.
- CPR/First Aid required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated skills and capabilities in analytical and critical thinking, complex problem solving and team leadership.
