Assistant Coach Women’s Basketball

Canisius College invites interested and qualified persons to apply for the position of Assistant Coach for Women's Basketball. Canisius is a member of the Division I Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The Assistant Coach reports to the Head Coach for Women’s Basketball.

Responsibilities:

• Instruct and evaluate well-prepared student-athletes.
• Help prepare for all team practices and be responsible for designated assignments.
• Organize and execute individual skill instruction for players.
• Provide players with feedback from practices and games utilizing video editing programs.
• Assist with conditioning drills and workouts in conjunction with assigned strength training coach and other staff.
• Support student-athletes with academic advisement, monitoring and development.
• Recruit qualified student-athletes for the Canisius College women’s basketball program.
• Develop scouting reports for opponents as assigned and evaluate game video.
• Assist with team travel and recruiting trip arrangements.

Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree is required.
• Playing and/or coaching experience at the Division I level is preferred.
• Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations is preferred.
• Previous experience supervising, communicating with, and instructing student-athletes is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Ability to work with a diverse population of student-athletes, parents, coaches, and administrators.
