The mission of Pfeiffer University Department of Athletics is to strive for excellence in academics and athletics, while embracing opportunity, good sportsmanship, and ethical conduct. In keeping with this mission, the role of the Women's Basketball Assistant Coach is to support a quality varsity program which will challenge and develop the physical, mental and personal abilities of Division III student-athletes.
Duties:
- Assist in all aspects of coaching basketball including thorough knowledge of the sport, coaching strategies and player development.
- Assist in recruitment of student-athletes on the regional level. This position supports the women's basketball program at Pfeiffer University with the recruitment of potential high school and community college student athletes.
- Adhere to NCAA Division III, USA South Conference office and department rules and regulations.
- Work within the framework of the Department of Athletics administration and coaches.
- Communicate effectively with students, faculty, administration, staff and alumni.
- Staff member is responsible for the monitoring an institutional facility for the purposes of safety and facility security. Coach supervision is to prevent any activity that is dangerous to a student-athlete or other students. This does not allow the supervisor to direct or provide instruction to student-athletes while supervising.
- The assistant coach will be asked to perform daily operations work, coaching, supervision of Team Academic Study Hall, supervision of student-managers, and recruiting under the direction of the Head Coach.
- Office work will require strong organizational skills and writing ability.
- The Assistant will travel with the team, prepare team travel itineraries, and assist with other aspects of travel (including driving).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor;s Degree;
- Successful background in coaching, preferably at the collegiate level;
- Previous recruiting experience;
- Ability to stick to deadlines and monitor your own progress;
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;
- Successfully pass NCAA recruiting examination;
- First Aid, AED, and CPR certification within four months of hire;
- Functional computer skills.
