Description
The Assistant Women’s Cross Country coach reports to the Head Women’s Cross Country Coach and assists in all aspects related to the Women’s Cross Country program.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the head coach in coaching and training the Women’s Cross Country Team; conduct all in-season and out-of-season sessions throughout the year as deemed necessary and appropriate.
- Assist with the preparation and organization of team meetings.
- Work with appropriate Northwestern University Department of Athletics and Recreation (NUDAR) staff in preparing for all practices and meets.
- Supervise team manager and/or student assistants.
- Coordinate team travel specifically by being the liason to our Anthony Travel Representative for air & bus travel arrangements for away meets and practices; per diem debit card loads to student-athletes and the planning of team meals; create travel itineraries in Teamworks; and maintain ledger on budget expenditures.
- In cooperation with Compliance staff, maintain countable athletically related activity (CARA) logs and practice schedules; input all practice and playing schedules into Teamworks.
- Support the Athletic Communications department and Marketing department in publicizing and marketing the cross country program; responsible for NUSports.com articles and photography during the indoor & outdoor track seasons; maintain social media accounts including but not limited to Instagram and TikTok.
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience as a collegiate middle to distance runner or as a cross country/track coach with middle to distance track coaching experience.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- USA Track and Field Level I certification and Level II certification in endurance events or certification through USTFCCCA Track and Field Endurance Academy preferred.
- Knowledge of rules and regulations of the NCAA, Big Ten Conference and Northwestern University preferred.
- Access to a vehicle for team meals, practices, and recruiting preferred.
