Description
Reporting to the Head Soccer Coach, the Assistant Coach, Women's Soccer is responsible for assisting the head coach with all activities of the designated program, including but not limited to, recruitment and retention of quality student-athletes, academic progress of student-athletes, competitive game strategy, budget management, coaching staff oversight, and the program’s compliance with the University and Governing Body while maintaining positive public relationships with the university and community.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Soccer Coach in instruction, administering, planning, and directing the UAH women’s soccer program, to include instruction, games, training, practice sessions, and competitions ensuring that all appropriate safety guidelines and standards are maintained.
- Assist with recruitment assessment and evaluation of quality student athletes. Fosters open, honest, two-way communication with the head coaches and student-athletes.
- Assist in establishing game plans and execution, set, and communicate appropriate goals and expectations for individuals and team.
- Perform, teach, demonstrate, and train student athletes both on and off the ice the technical aspects of the sport.
- Assist in the management of athletic-related injuries or the aggravation of such injuries during practice sessions and scheduled contests by being knowledgeable of the injuries sustained in the sport and proper prevention methods, directing appropriate pre-training session and pre-contest preparations and warm ups, and arranging for qualified sports medicine personnel or athletic trainers to be available during all training sessions and contests.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- 1 year of full-time verifiable coaching experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must have excellent verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of, and adheres to the university’s policies, procedures, and bylaws and maintain compliance with NCAA departmental and university rules, regulations, and governing body.
