Description
North Middlesex Regional High School is seeking a dedicated and supportive Assistant Cross Country Coach to work alongside the Head Coach in leading both the boys and girls cross country teams. The assistant coach will help provide a positive, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate experience for student-athletes, with an emphasis on fitness, discipline, sportsmanship, and academic balance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in organizing and conducting daily practices focused on endurance, strength, and technique.
- Help monitor progress and encourage athletes to achieve personal and team goals.
- Provide individualized support and guidance for runners at all skill levels.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that emphasizes teamwork and character.
- Serve as a mentor and role model, promoting good sportsmanship and perseverance.
- Support student-athletes in balancing academics with athletics.
- Help with meet preparation, logistics, and athlete supervision during competitions.
- Encourage athletes during races and assist with post-race evaluation and recovery.
Qualifications:
- Experience in distance running or coaching cross country.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively.
- Must meet all NFHS and MIAA coaching certification requirements.
