Description
Reporting to the Director, Intercollegiate & Intramural Athletics, the Assistant Director-Athletics, Compliance & Retention, assists in developing and administering the athletics programs of a college; works to ensure student-athletes receive academic support services to help with their transition, retention, and completion; and fosters an environment through which coaches can provide effective coaching and quality services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Represents the college and Athletic Department at recruitment events and participates in various activities to promote the college’s athletic programs.
- Works with coaches and student development staff to implement academic support programs tailored to the specific needs of student-athletes at risk of losing their eligibility to participate in a sports program due to unsatisfactory academic achievement.
- Assists the Director in ensuring student-athletes are eligible to participate in intercollegiate athletics programs.
- Assists the Director in the preparation and processing of required documents to certify the continuing eligibility of current student-athletes as required by NJCAA rules and regulations.
- Assists the Director in providing relevant compliance information and updates on NJCAA rules and regulations to help ensure college’s athletics programs remain in compliance.
- Assists the Director in conducting information sessions on NJCAA rules and regulations for coaches, athletic staff, staff from other college departments, and student-athletes to provide relevant compliance information and updated and help ensure compliance.
- Assists the Director in ensuring compliance with intercollegiate athletics program reporting requirements to the NJCAA. Assists the Director in the preparation of required NJCAA certification forms, student-athlete statements, drug consent forms, and other related forms as required.
- Assists in maintaining records of physical examinations of student-athletes required for their participation in tryouts, training, practice, or competitive events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three years of coaching experience at the high school or college level.
- Dedication to student-athletes and student success.
- Knowledge and understanding of CCC’s policies regarding athletics and academic performance.
- Knowledge and understanding of NJCAA rules and regulations.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills.
- Ability work within a culturally diverse environment.
