Knowledge of student development theories and academic advising profession. Knowledge of FERPA. Knowledge of NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) rules and regulations for Division I and II concerning continuing eligibility and progress toward degree requirements; Knowledge NACADA (National Academic Advising Association) Core Values and best practices. Prefer knowledge of BANNER, TOAD, OnBase or other similar academic database, query, and digital scanning programs. Membership in NACADA (National Academic Advising Association), N4A (National Association Academic Advisors for Athletics). Prefer N4A certification as athletic advisor.
Exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills, including public speaking. Excellent active listening, intercultural competency, and conflict resolution skills. Excellent problem solving and decision making skills. Keen eye for detail, rigorous proofreading abilities including strict adherence to rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Familiarity with international student advising rules, regulations, and concerns is desired. Strong computer based skills associated with Microsoft Office Suite, Banner, and web based programs.
