Assistant Director of Athletic Bands

High Point University is seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Athletic Bands. Duties include assisting the Director of Athletic Bands with the instruction, direction, administration, and operation of a comprehensive university athletic bands program.

Experience and Training:

• Experience with athletic bands at the university level required. Athletic band experience at the secondary level considered.
• Additional preferred qualifications include successful record of secondary and/or university level teaching, advanced degree(s) in wind conducting or music education, and a background in woodwind, brass, and/or drum line.
• Brass instruction experience preferred.
• Marching/Pep Band leadership and creative strategies for enhancing game-day experiences.

Essential Functions:

• Assists the Director of Athletic Bands in all Athletic Band related activities, including rehearsals and game-day leadership.
• Leads sectional rehearsals.
• Recruits students for the Athletic Band.
