Description
The Assistant Director of Athletics Communication is responsible for various marketing and promotional tasks for athletic events, assisting with sports releases, statistical data and publications.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the content generation and management of the athletics department website.
- Write and edit various department communication materials, including media guides, postseason publications, press releases, game notes and content for the department’s website.
- Work closely with athletics marketing staff to promote stories of the department through digital and social media platforms.
- Develop and write, both in news and feature form, press releases about the coaches and student-athletes and disseminate this information to the media and to the public via the athletics website and social media platforms in an effort to publicize teams.
- Nominate and promote student-athletes and coaches for awards.

- Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and commitment to compliance with APSU, ASUN, and NCAA policies, rules and regulations.
- Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately.
- Ability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations, the University community and the public.
- Ability to detect and correct grammatical and spelling errors in written correspondence.
- Ability to maintain files accurately, in paper and in software programs.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to effectively supervise personnel and complete all associated personnel actions in a timely and accurate manner.
- Knowledge of requirements for compliance with all NCAA and OVC rules related to the responsibilities of this position.
