Description
The Assistant Director of Athletic Communications reports to the Director of Athletic Communications and assists with the coverage of W&L's 24-sport athletic program in the NCAA Division III.
Essential Functions:

Serves as the primary contact for football, volleyball, baseball and up to seven (7) additional athletic teams.

Provides all sports information functions including maintaining records and statistics, writing press releases and game stories, nominating for awards and handling internal, external and public information requests for the assigned teams.

Collaborates in strategic planning for internal and external messaging in support of the university and athletic department mission.

Assists in gameday operations and staffing for all W&L intercollegiate athletic events on campus, including statistics, scoreboards, scorekeepers, music and public address. Serves as the primary statistician for all assigned sports.

Functions as a public relations/news liaison between the media, conference affiliates, the NCAA and Washington and Lee’s department of athletics and student-athletes.

Maintains the athletics website (SIDEARM) and other software-based platforms regarding assigned sports.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and at least 3 years of experience in intercollegiate sports information, athletics communication, or game operations with experience hosting post-season tournaments at the conference, regional or national level.
- Must have excellent organizational, collaboration and communications skills and the ability to work within deadlines.
- Excellent writing and editing skills are essential, as is experience with Apple computer systems, design programs (InDesign & Photoshop) and statistical programs (NCAA Genius LiveStats, Presto Stats, TAS, Etc.).
