Description
The University of Virginia is a highly competitive Division I program committed to academic and athletic excellence. The Department of Athletics at the University of Virginia is now accepting applications for the position of Assistant Director of Athletic Communications to support the Media Relations office.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of sports programs (baseball and volleyball) with the ability to prepare written reports on sport programs so that they are grammatically correct and of professional quality.
- Demonstrated knowledge of graphics design, photography, videography, digital editing, desktop publishing, social media, and the operation of statistical computer programs.
- Ability to convey information, and/or plans clearly in written format.
- Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in interactions with all UVA and Athletics Department staff, outside community including fans, visitors, the press, prospective students, parents, and other constituencies.
- Must possess strong organizational skills and the ability to supervise student workers.
Qualifications:
- Education: A bachelor's degree is required, preferably with a major/minor in English, journalism or communications.
- Experience: One year of athletics communications experience or a related field.
