Description
The Assistant Director of Communications is responsible for creating media awareness, working to extend the brand and message of NC State University Athletics and producing digital publications and publicity. The position will serve as the primary athletics communications contact for multiple athletic programs.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Serve as the primary media relations and communications for multiple programs.
- Served as content creator for assigned sports by editing graphic templates, and recording and posting social media videos.
- Work to develop and extend the brand of NC State, NC State Athletics and assigned sports creatively while working with the Athletics creative team.
- Serve as primary NC State Athletics liaison between assigned sports programs and national, regional, and local media, as well as the public.
- Develop communications strategies to reach national and regional media and supporters to generate revenue consistent with the mission of NC State Athletics.
- Develop and provide media training/instruction to student-athletes, coaches, and administration.
- Research, write, and release digital sports publications and other materials as directed to the appropriate media, conference and national offices, websites, etc.
- Create solutions and ideas to promote, brand, and market programs via all available social media channels and traditional media channels.
Qualifications:
- Require post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor’s degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience may be substituted for the advanced degree on an exceptional basis.
- Minimum of two years experience in sports information/communications required.
- Must be familiar with applicable desktop publishing programs.
