Description
The Assistant Director of Intramural Sports at Indiana University's Campus Recreational Sports supervises all aspects of the Intramural Sports program for the students, faculty, and staff of Indiana University Bloomington. This position includes the supervision and direction of 2 Coordinators, 3 Program Assistants, and 175 season employees for programs at Bill Garrett Fieldhouse (BGF), Student Recreational Sports Center (SRSC), Woodlawn Fields, University Gym (UGym), Sembower Recreational Sports Field Complex (SRSFC), and off-campus.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee 42 Intramural Sports programs, engaging nearly 10,000 unique participants.
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate staff; manage schedules and payroll, facilitate meetings, and implement staff recognition initiatives.
- Facilitate recruitment and professional growth opportunities.
- Develop and lead training sessions on skill enhancement, team building, and operational efficiency; provide mentorship to foster a positive work environment.
- Conduct evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and implement recognition programs to motivate and support staff.
- Offer resources such as resume workshops and job search strategies.
- Coordinate and oversee facility reservations for Intramural Sports.
- Manage disciplinary incidents, in coordination with human resources, related to Intramural Sports, ensuring compliance with Recreational Sports and University policies and related appeals.
- Oversee equipment inventory, ensuring security, maintenance, and adherence to university purchasing guidelines through research and planning.
- Utilize assessment results to inform future programming, recommend new initiatives, and support policy development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Recreation, Sports Management, or a related field.
- 2 years of related experience with structured recreational programming.
