Description
This position is under the direction of the Associate AD, Media Relations is responsible for serving as the primary contact for Duquesne football, women’s lacrosse, women’s swimming and diving, M/W cross country and M/W track and field.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with planning and implementing communications strategies as they relate to the goals and objectives of Duquesne’s 20-sport Division I athletics programs.
- Oversees media relations efforts for assigned programs. Communicates with coaching staffs and media to coordinate interviews, provides timely, accurate information and handles media needs before, during and after competition. Staffs home events and supervise the recording of accurate statistical information during events.
- Provides timely content for the web including game recaps and previews. To report game results, statistics, student-athlete award nominations, coaches' award nominations and other pertinent information to conference offices, coaches associations and the NCAA.
- Charged with developing an integrated brand marketing and communications plan that provides a strategic basis for the entire department, guiding both internal and external correspondence as well as public perception.
- Monitors perceptions of Duquesne’s athletics programs and coordinate strategic messaging in conjunction with the marketing and branding department.
- Works closely with marketing and branding to develop social media content with a strong focus on specific networks (Facebook, Instagram & Twitter).
- Assists with hosting NCAA and Atlantic 10 Championship events.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
- Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Attention to detail.
- Strong Communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create and update documents using Adobe InDesign.
